As part of its efforts to enhance customs awareness and spread knowledge on its safety and security measures, the General Administration of Customs - Abu Dhabi has launched a new strategic initiative entitled "Abu Dhabi Customs’ student engagement programme".
The programme kicked off in three schools, Al Ghazali School for Boys, Al Nahda National School for Boys, and Al Nahda National School for Girls. The initiative has reached 600 students in primary and secondary levels, with an aim to grow on a larger scale to include various other schools in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
The initiative reflects the administration's efforts to spread and unify the definition of customs among different segments of society, in particular students and future youth- given their pivotal role in generating future progress and development. Abu Dhabi Customs also seeks to raise awareness about the official customs practices and their contribution to the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030.
During the school visits, which were held between 16th and 18th October, representatives from Abu Dhabi Customs offered students a detailed presentation on the Administration’s progress, mission, objectives and role as one of the key contributors to the economic growth of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. A growth which is witnessed with the promotion of foreign trade, ensuring easy customs clearance and service as well as maintaining homeland security.
The visit also highlighted Abu Dhabi Customs’ safety and security procedures across its various air, sea and land ports, and provided students with a detailed explanation on illegal trade, smuggling attempts and commercial fraud. The delegation of the General Administration of Customs held a student competition with prizes to evaluate their level of understanding. Students were also given the opportunity to ask questions and inquire about various customs procedures.
