Dar Al Ber Society (DABS)
Dubai - WAM

With just a few days left before Eid Al Adha, the Dar Al Ber Society (DABS) is set to spend AED4 million on the Adahi, or sacrificial animals and feast clothes, for the benefit of some 245,000 people from approximately 49,000 poor and low-income families registered both locally and abroad.
Abdullah Ali bin Zayed, the Executive Director of Dar Al Ber Society, said that 12,836 Adahi, worth AED3.7 million, will be distributed to 235,000 people in the U.A.E. and 20 Arab, African, and Asian countries.
"Some 25,000 people from over 5,000 eligible families in the Emirates of Dubai, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras al-Khaimah and Fujairah are to benefit from the 2,400 Adahi, worth AED1.2 million." He said that 10,436 Adahi, worth AED2.5 million, will go to 210,000 people of 42,000 families in 20 countries. "The Dar Al Ber Society, run by Dubai Government, is also to spend AED720,000 collected for Adahi at the countries where the prices of sacrificial animals are much higher than the U.A.E.," he said, noting that 36 institutions and societies abroad are accredited to distribute these amounts in coordination with U.A.E. Embassies there.
The Dar Al Ber Society earlier set the prices for charity Adahi in agreement with the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities in Dubai. "The price determined for local Adahi is AED500 while the carcass to be slaughtered abroad will cost AED350, and a minimum of AED40 may be donated for charity feast clothes." Abdullah Ali bin Zayed went on to say that 9,000 people in local and overseas families will benefit from the Eid Al Adha clothes, worth AED300,000. "Up to 300 local families, including 1,500 people, will benefit from the feast clothes valued at AED150,000 and 7,500 people of 1,500 families abroad will get charity clothes, also valued at AED150,000." Bin Zayed said the door is still open for Emirati and foreign philanthropists to chip in and bring happiness to the poor and low-income people locally and abroad on these blessed days by contributing to Adahi and feast clothes.
"The Adahi and clothes coupons are available with Society representatives at 55 shopping centres and cooperative societies in the Emirates of Dubai, Ajman, Ras al-Khaimah, and Fujairah." Part of the donations collected will go for Hajj-based preaching activities and the distribution of over 50,000 booklets and CDs on perfect Hajj, pilgrims’ due daily practices, the ethics of travel, the provisions of Adahi, as well as a thorough directory on Hajj and Umrah, and select supplications during Hajj, he elaborated.
"The brochures of the Adahi and feast clothes will be disseminated to the beneficiaries registered with the Zakat and seasonal projects departments under the Dar Al Ber Society," he stated, urging donation at DABS branches across the country, on the society official website, and via the Dubai Islamic Bank and Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank." Meanwhile, lectures and forums were held on Hajj in Arabic, English and Urdu at the Mosques of Al Barsha, Al Warqa, and Ibrahim Al Khalil, along with other mosques and labour camps in the Emirate of Dubai.
The booklets and brochures of Hajj will be distributed to new Muslims flying from or transiting in Dubai. The activities of the Hajj and Adahi campaign will be unveiled in detail through the seven-year-old weekly live radio programme, ‘Heavens Gates’, being broadcast every Friday on the Noor Dubai radio station under the sponsorship of DABS.
