L’Oréal Africa Middle East has won the Retail Supply Chain Management of the Year award at the Logistics Middle East Awards 2017 during a ceremony held at Grosvenor House Hotel in Dubai Marina.
The Retail Supply Chain Management category of the Logistics Middle East Awards considers brands and service providers that are innovating new methods to cap costs and increase speed to market.
L’Oréal Middle East won the award for its development objectives across its entire supply chain under its “Sharing Beauty With All” (SBWA) sustainability program.
“We are proud to have won this award based on our sustainability efforts, which span across our supply chain. We are working very closely with our suppliers, distribution partners and logistics providers to ensure that our ethos of sustainability is reflected across all operations. “Sharing Beauty With All” program has required collaboration and optimization across all our operations to reduce our footprint and achieve our 2020 targets,” said Yassine Bakkari, operations director, L’Oréal Middle East.
Through innovation and collaboration with all stakeholders, L’Oréal Middle East has managed to reduce its CO2 emissions by 46 percent per unit by end of 2016.
Under SBWA, the L’Oréal Group has successfully decoupled growth from carbon emissions. By reducing the emissions of its global operations including plants and distribution centers by 67 percent in absolute terms from a 2005 baseline, L’Oréal has exceeded its target of a 60 percent reduction in CO2 emissions four years ahead of schedule. Simultaneously, production has increased 29 percent during the same period. By end of 2016, the group had turned 15 of its industrial sites carbon neutral.
The Logistics Middle East Awards celebrate supply chain and logistics excellence in the Middle East, continuing the tradition of the Supply Chain & Transport Awards that were first held in 2007.
