Egyptian Foreign Minister, Samih Shukri, reiterated the necessity of finding a political solution to the crisis in Syria to realize stability and to guarantee that the terrorist organizations will not return.
In a special interview with Russia Today TV on Sunday, Shukri clarified that the de-escalation zones agreement has contributed to the resumption of the political track, underlining the importance of uniting the “opposition” to form a harmonious group which will be able to engage in the political process according to the Security Council’s resolutions and which will be keen on the future of the Syrian people.
He added that Putin’s visit to Egypt tomorrow, and holding a Russian-Egyptian summit come in the framework of enhancing cooperation between the two countries and discussing the challenges facing the region.
Shukri indicated that the summit will be also a good opportunity to exchange viewpoints and to set a joint strategic vision on the situation in Syria and Yemen and on fighting terrorism, in addition to discussing the latest developments related to the Palestinian Cause and Al-Quds City
