A forum underscoring the crucial importance of culture and media was held today at the University of Bahrain (UoB).
The event is part of Day II of the Al-Ahram Cultural Festival, being held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa.
HM the King’s Advisor for Information Affairs Nabil bin Yacoub Al-Hamer, former Egyptian Culture Minister Dr. Shaker Abdulhamid and writer Mustafa Abada addressed the forum themed “Role of Culture and Media in Unifying Arab peoples”.
They stressed the responsibility of cultural figures in combating the scourges of extremism and terrorism and enhancing people and promoting social development and progress.
Former Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohammed Al-Arabi, member of the National Council for Combating Terrorism and director of the Egyptian Centre for security studies Brigadier Khalid Okacha and columnist Mohammed Mubarak Juma’a addressed the second forum theme “Strategic and Security Vision for combating terrorism”.
The event also featured a recital by Egyptian renowned poet Jamal Bakheet.
The festival, which runs until tomorrow, reflects deep-rooted historic relations binding the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of Egypt, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa and President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
