The Australian Technology Network of Universities (ATN), in cooperation with the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education, will offer fellowship to Indonesian professionals and students to study in Australia.

"Indonesian students will have a huge opportunity to study in Australia," said the Networks Executive Director, Renee Hindmarsh, in a written statement received here on Monday.

She explained that in cooperation with the Indonesian Ministry, Indonesian students will have the opportunity to not only access sophisticated educational facilities but also to gain a deeper understanding of Australian culture, expand their knowledge of the English language and experience the academic life in five universities under the ATN.

The official agreement was signed by both parties in Jakarta on Monday.

Indonesia will support the collaboration. The government will also provide educational and research programs to prepare those who receive fellowship with adequate skills that will help them in their area of work later.

She added that the agreement will open invaluable educational opportunities to the Indonesian public while also giving students and professors a chance to study and work in Australia.

"This close relationship will hopefully continue to facilitate Indonesian students, giving them opportunities to study in world class education institutions, making them more competitive and better equipped in the career world," she remarked.

Hindmarsh hoped that the students sponsored by the ministry will return home with a better understanding of their field of research and profession.

They will also be able to build an international network and familiarize themselves with different cultures, she commented.

"Our universities are known to be innovative and full of developmental spirit. All the institutions under the Australian Technology Network of Universities are in the list of top 50 Universities under 50 years from the QS University Rankings of 2016," she informed.

The Network itself is a consortium of five major universities in Australia, including the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, the University of Technology in Sydney, the RMIT University Melbourne, the University of South Australia in Adelaide and Perths Curtin University.
