The Japanese government has once again offered scholarships to Indonesian senior high school graduates to pursue higher education in the country.
The scholarships include programs at universities for S-1 degrees, at the College of Technology for D-3 degrees and at the Professional Training College for D-2 degrees, Khadijah Umeda, the spokesperson for the information and cultural division of the Japanese Consulate General in Medan, North Sumatra, said here on Tuesday.
"The scholarships are for the academic year of 2016. Students can apply for only one of the S-1, D-3, or D-2 programs," she added.
From May 4 to 21, the consulate general will register applicants who completed their senior high school in 2014 and before, while applicants who graduated from senior high school in 2015 will be registered from May 25 to June 11.
To obtain the scholarships, applicants must meet certain requirements. These include being Indonesian citizens, being born between April 2, 1994, and April 1, 1999, and having an average national exam score of 8.4 for S-1 programs and 8.0 for the D-3 and D-2 programs.
If applicants will not receive the original certificates of their national exams until after the registration period has passed, they can attach a written statement from the principals of their schools to their applications.
Moreover, applicants for the 3-1 program who opt for social sciences can attach certificates of Japanese language skill with a minimum level of N3.
