In the light of the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister during the Government Forum 2017 which was held under the auspices of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, with the initiative of HRH the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister; the Minister of Education, Dr. Majid bin Ali Al Nuaimi, said the ministry has taken numerous measures to boost its monitoring of governmental and private schools, especially schools whose performance does not live up to the aspired level.
The minister hailed the directives of HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister to which the ministry pays all due heed, that reflect His Royal Highness’s keenness on upgrading education in the Kingdom to highest standards, that will contribute in the preparation of generations capable of competitiveness and coping with the labour market transformations, to achieve the Government Action Plan within the Kingdom of Bahrain’s Economic Vision2030.
As part of the efforts exerted to enhance schools performance, a ministerial resolution was issued by the Ministry of Education (MoE) defining the aspects of monitoring and the measures which should be taken to address low-performing private schools situations, boost the teaching/learning process in these schools and contribute in the interest of students and their parents who incur their children’s study costs, Dr. Al Nuaimi said.
He explained that among the measures included in this resolution is to oblige a low-performing private school to prepare its own developmental plan stating its clear steps and a specified timetable. And in case the school fails improve its performance, or to show the required level of seriousness to remedy its situation, further measures will be taken, including disapproval of the school's request to open a new branch and even the cancellation of its licenses.
