Muscat - Arab today

 More than 23,000 students graduated from the government and private higher education institutions in the Sultanate in 2015/2016, according to the Higher Education Statistics Bulletin issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

The statistics showed that 23,163 students graduated from the educational institutions of whom 11,427 graduated from universities and government colleges and 11,691 from private universities and colleges. 

The bulletin showed that 13,242 students received bachelor/licence degrees, including 4,875 male graduates and 8,367 females.

6,951 received the diploma, including 3,413 males and 3,538 females. 609 students graduated in the Advanced Specialised Diploma, including 251 males and 358 females.

Six students (3 males and 3 females) received the specialised certificate after the bachelor’s degree. 81 students received a higher diploma /postgraduate diploma, including 23 males and 58 females. 487 students received a vocational certificate/vocational diploma, of which 53 males and 434 females. 383 students received the educational qualification diploma, including five males and 378 females.

1,378 students received master degrees, including 733 males and 645 females. 26 students received their doctorates (13 females and 13 males). At the governorate level, the Governorate of Muscat had the highest percentage of graduates with 25 per cent, followed by the Governorate of North Al Batinah with 16.8 per cent.

It is noteworthy that the number of higher education institutions (government and private) in the Sultanate are 69. 16,244 academic and administrative employees work in those institutions.
