The Saudi Electronics and Home Appliances Institute (SEHAI) has received five training engines as donations from Cummins Inc., an American firm that specializes in manufacturing powerplants.
SEHAI Director Ismail Mohamed Mufarreh said that the engines from the Columbus, Indiana-based company will be used for the training of SEHAI’s 260 students, including those from the electro mechanical department.
Cummins manufactures diesel and turbocharged engines, power generators, and fuel and filtration systems. Its diesel engines are most popularly used in US pickup trucks.
SEHAI is a Saudi-Japanese joint venture whose aim is to help create new technical job opportunities in electronics, office equipment, home appliances and air-conditioning among the Saudi youth.
In a statement, Mufarreh said the donation is part of the American firm’s commitment as partner of SEHAI to provide the students with the latest training in the electro mechanical field.
“SEHAI expresses its gratitude and appreciation to Cummins, Inc. and its top management for the donations,” Mufarreh said.
He thanked Mike Sharp, managing director of Cummins, for his cooperation in connection with the partnership between SEHAI and Cummins Inc.
The handover ceremony was attended by SEHAI officials headed by Mufarreh as well as representatives of the American firm.
Mufarreh also invited other companies to also have partnership with SEHAI and be part of its activities to train the Saudi youth in connection with the Vision 2030 of the Kingdom.
SEHAI has been granted accreditation by Japan’s Nippon Engineering College of Hachioji (NEEC).
