: A film shot in Oman has won a prestigious award at the international short film festival in Estonia.
A short film entitled, “Happiness-Generation of Love,” directed by an Indian expatriate living in Oman—Thasleem Khan—won the special jury award at the Unprecedented Cinema International Festival of Short Film, which was held at Estonia from May 31 to June 4 this year.
Khan, who hails from the Tamil Nadu state of India, said: “I don’t have words to express my joy and am very proud of my team, who were behind the success of the film.” His film was also shown at the film festival.
The film’s story is about a father, who is missing his son on his birthday and how he recollects his past by seeing childhood pictures on his birthday.
“When people will see this film, it will also rekindle their memories of the past,” Khan said, adding that he dedicates this film to all parents.
Khan, a passionate filmmaker in Oman, has won several awards in the recent years, including at the Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival in India and at the Norway Tamil Film Festival.
Khan, who always uses local talent for his film, said this time four talented children acted in his movie. “I believe there are a lot of talented locals who can act here.”
In 2016, Khan won the special jury award for his acting performance in a short film “Vettenapesel – An Evening Appointment,” which was shown at Oslo, Norway.
Khan, who works as the chief executive officer and managing partner of the Intelligent Parking and Elevator Company in Oman, said he is really proud to shoot films in this lovely country. “Oman is really a filmmaker’s paradise,” he summed up.
