Though, Katy Perry has wowed her fans with her latest single, many of them are not happy, asking why did she work with Migos, a US hip hop group, on “Bon Appetit.”
As soon as the track was released, thousands of her followers expressed their anger because of the group’s comments on gender issues in the past, the Daily Mail reported.
The song was written by Perry herself with help from frequent collaborators Max Martin, Shellback, Oscar Holter, Ferras Alqaisi and, of course, Migos.
The track begins calmly and remains so for longer than Perry normally would, but there is something special in store for those willing to stick it out and listen all the way through.
The build up is gradual, but by the end of the song, the beat is undeniable, and without even realizing what has happened, all of a sudden the listener is swaying side to side, moved by the breezy, summery, 90’s-invoking vibes that “Bon Appetit” emits in carefree fashion.
Perry got fans talking earlier this week when she e-mailed a pie recipe to her fans, hinting that the phrase “Bon Appetit” was of some significance.
It did not take long for the world to catch on, and just a few days later, Perry posted the single’s cover on Instagram, confirming the name of the song, the release date and that there was “a featured guest” on this latest offering, Forbes reported.
