The Sudanese media has halted broadcasting to highlight the importance of the singer, who was a pillar of the Sudan artistic scene. Mahmoud worked alongside many prominent poets and composers, as well as contributing to a number of national celebrations. He was also heavily involved in developing the talents of children through a specialised association that he formed and sponsored. The prominent singer was moved to Jordan as his fans awaited news from the hospital he was being treated in, Ibn al-Haytham. Jordanian physician Jamal Al-Arda said Aziz’s EEG had revealed bleeding in a large part of his brain. He explained that Mahmoud was suffering from a failure of his blood to clot within the arteries, causing internal bleeding.
