Abu Dhabi - Arab Today

The Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority, ADWEA, said its Demand Side Management programme (Tarsheed), seeks a 20 percent reduction in water and electricity consumption by the year 2030, Abdullah Ali Musleh Al Ahbabi, Chairman of the Board of Directors, ADWEA, told the 29th Annual International Seminar of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India – Abu Dhabi Chapter.

Speaking about the role of governance in delivering the Authority's strategic objectives and improving financial performance, Al Ahbabi said, ADWEA is seeking to be among the world's leading providers of water and electricity by 2020.

He also pointed to ADWEA's efforts to provide a sustained supply of water and electricity services to its consumers and satisfy growing demand due to the increase in population and expansion of new residential developments.

He lauded the government's policy to harness nuclear energy, solar power, and natural gas, to generate electricity and secure services in the future.

Launched at the beginning of 2016, "Tarsheed" aimed to help and encourage its customers to use water and electricity more efficiently in line with the directives of the country’s visionary leadership, with regard to environmental protection for the benefit of future generations.

The 29th Annual International Seminar was held on 9th and 10th November, 2017, in Abu Dhabi under the theme "Success through synergy".
