Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, DEWA, recently received Wael al-Sayed Gad, Egypt's Ambassador to the UAE, and his accompanying delegation, as part of efforts to emphasise DEWA's keenness to strengthen cooperation and closer ties with all diplomatic and consular missions operating in the UAE.
Al Tayer welcomed the Egyptian Ambassador and briefed the delegation on DEWA’s experiences in developing the clean and renewable energy sector to achieve sustainable development in the emirate.
DEWA has embarked on a series of ambitious programmes, projects and initiatives to support the vision of the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who launched the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050. The strategy aims to provide 7 percent of Dubai's energy from clean sources by 2020, 25 percent by 2030 and 75 percent by 2050, to transform Dubai into a global hub for clean energy and the green economy, making Dubai the city with the lowest carbon footprint in the world.
The parties emphasised the importance of cooperation and exchange of experiences between DEWA and Egyptian organisations in the energy sector, stressing the distinguished relations between the two sides.
The Egyptian delegation commended DEWA’s efforts to strengthen Dubai's position and its global leadership in various fields of energy, and expressed its interest in participating in DEWA projects.
