Thunderbolts, lightning storms and a heavy downpour hit several parts of the UAE on Monday morning
In its daily weather update, the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) said that rainfall of different intensities was reported in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Fujairah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, and the adjoining areas
Residents also posted footage of the heavy rainfall all across social media, as the storm lashed out against palm trees with wind speeds kicking up to as high as 75km/h.
Other videos also captured the rain's aftermath in the city, which left areas flooded with water
The NCMS said that the unstable weather will continue throughout the day, with dark clouds expected to form in most of the areas across the country.
Residents can expect rain of different intensities during the day, although weather forecasters say that the sky will generally become clearer by late Monday night and into the early hours of Tuesday
Moderate to strong northeasterly to southesterly winds will affect the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea, causing rough to very rough waves at times
Over the next two days, the NCMS expects cloudy weather in general, with a chance of some rainfall during the daytime on Tuesday. Winds will be mild with relative humidity to increase at night and turn into mist by Wednesday early morning.
By Wednesday, residents are unlikely to experience any more storms with the NCMS expecting fog and mist to start appearing instead
