Qatar Red Crescent (QRCS) has opened a series of humanitarian projects with the Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) in the Bekaa, Lebanon.
An agreement was also signed to cover the costs for dialysis patients, QRSC said in a press release on Sunday.
Among the projects, which were inaugurated there, is the mobile mammography clinic in Majdal Anjar, which offers a full range of services, from awareness to examination, diagnosis, and treatment, added the release.
on this occasion, representative of the Lebanese Minister of Refugee Affairs, Safwan Mustafa hailed the efforts being exerted by QRCS and KRCS as well as the humanitarian support extended by the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to Lebanon especially on IDPs.
The Lebanese official also stressed the need to establish such projects targeting IDPs and the host community, especially in areas such as Bekaa and Akkar.
For his part, the Chairman of KRCS, Dr. Helal Al-Sayer said the mobile mammography clinic project is of key importance, as statistics show that one in eight women are prone to breast cancer.
"This service will be addressed at women in remote refugee camps, to ensure early detection and high curability," he went on saying.
