Syrian regime forces supported by their loyalists gunmen of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities and with a cover of artillery shelling and intensive rocket and air bombardment by Russian warplanes, managed to control Jabal al-Thardah overlooking Deir Ezzor Airbase, where this control came after the withdrawal of members of the “Islamic State” organization from the mountain as a result of the intense bombing, and the regime forces managed to advance and control the mountain where they started sweeping it in search of pockets of the organization’s members.

The importance of controlling al-Thardah mountain comes from it being overlooking Deir Ezzor Airbase and also it contributes in securing the airbase, where it secures its southern section, also the regime forces can target the towns of al-Mri’eyyeh and al-Bo Omar east of the Airbase. If the regime forces advance to both towns or fully observe them by firearm, then they will secure the takeoff and land of warplanes inside the Deir Ezzor Airbase and increase its security.

This also will secure regime’s land forces in case they advanced towards the areas of Jafra and Hwyjet Sakr to besiege the city completely from the side of the western banks of the Euphrates River, while the eastern banks of the river remain open to organization if it decided to withdraw from the city, also the regime forces were able to control the mountain overlooking Deir Ezzor city which complete their control over the west of the city.

Violent clashes are still taking place on areas in areas in the border area with Jordan in the desert of southeastern Rif Dimashq between Jaysh Usud al-Sharqiyyah, Ahmad Al-Abdu Forces and Shuhada’a Al-Qaryatayn Battalion against the regime forces and their allied militiamen, following a continued attack by the latter.

The governmental force managed to advance and control two new areas hours after they controlled police stations and border checkpoints, where the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published hors ago that the clashes renewed between the regime forces supported by militiamen loyal to them on one hand, and the fighters of the factions operating in the desert, of the forces of Ahmad al-Abdu, Jaysh Usud al-Sharqiyyah and Shuhada’a Al-Qaryatayn Brigade on the other hand.

In the same context, a leader of a rebel faction was injured in an assassination attempt in the city of Daraa, where activists of the Syrian Observatory in the area learned that an IED bombed in headquarter in Usud al-Sunnah Brigade in the city of Daraa at yesterday’s noon, where the Syrian Observatory documented the death of one person in al-Naemeh town in the countryside of Daraa under torture inside the detention centers of the regime forces after he was arrested 5 years ago.
