Iraq's Ministry of Defense revealed that Iraqi military troops carried out pre-emptive operations against the extremist groups in Anbar province in the districts of Thamil and Assila. It added that they managed to destroy a camp for the extremists and exploding three bombing wheels.
It added that they found a large amount of military equipment and explosive devices and 20 explosive belts and a motorcycle prepared for explosion. It clarified that they also managed to kill four militants loyal to ISIS and three suicide bombers.
According to the statement, the military forces managed to burn the militants' camp and a store of fuel controlled by the extremist group. Military sources revealed that the Iraqi troops resumed their advance in Mousl, as they currently attempt to restore control on the district of New Mousl, while they have not achieved full success in this regard.
On its hand, the Federal Police managed to achieve notable advance Bab Al Tob district. Police official Mohamed Fadel revealed that the Iraqi troops work to restore control on the district since four days, while they have not achieved full success in this regard despite the increasing support from the air forces of both Iraqi army and International Coalition.
According to military sources, a large number of snipers loyal to the extremist group have been deployed over the buildings of the city, saying that they prevent the Iraqi troops from achieving their objective. They added that the extremists forced the residents to leave their houses in the areas they control to use them in the confrontation against the Iraqi troops.
On the other hand, Director General of League of Arab States Ahmed Aboul Gheit is scheduled to hold a visit to Baghdad Wednesday to meet with a number of Iraqi officials to discuss the recent developments in the light of the notable advance the Iraqi troops managed to achieve in the Iraqi second largest city.
The visit comes days before the Arab Summit scheduled to be held in Amman on March 29 to discuss the recent developments in the Arab countries including Iraq.
