Russian President’s Special Envoy to Syria Alexander Lavrentiev underlined the necessity of continuing to fight the terrorist organizations in Syria till eliminating them completely, affirming that the continuation of the presence of terrorists is impossible.
After discussions held in Geneva with the participation of representative of Astana guarantor states (Russia, Iran and Turkey) and UN Special Envoy to Syria Staffan de Mistura, Lavrentiev was quoted by Russia Today website as saying that “Russia and other guarantor states are exerting all possible efforts to solve the issue of Idleb with the less possible losses along with guaranteeing the safety of civilians.”
Earlier on the day, the Russian Foreign Ministry reiterated that it is impossible to allow the continuity of terrorists’ hotbed in Idleb in Syria, affirming the correctness of the policy adopted by the Syrian government in this regard.
