Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered on Monday the signing of a comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation agreement at the highest level between Egypt and Russia.
A signed decree carrying Putin’s instructions was posted on the Kremlin’s official portal for legal information.
Its issuance marks the beginning of President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi’s three-day visit to Russia earlier today.
During the visit, El-Sisi will hold talks with Putin in the Black Sea resort town of Sochi on means of boosting bilateral relations and other issues of mutual interest.
The talks come as part of the strategic partnership between the two countries.
El-Sisi will also hold talks with Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and other senior officials on boosting economic cooperation.
The Egyptian president is also scheduled to deliver a speech before the Russian Federation Council, the upper house of the Federal Assembly.
