Tunis - Hayat Al Ghanemi

A state of controversy dominated the Tunisian society over the accusations against a teacher of promoting the extremist ideas among her students. The Tunisian teacher said that she teaches English and works to support her students for learning the language by rewarding the outstanding students.

She provided a student with a shirt as he managed to achieve a good result during the exam she prepared for the students and promised the others with similar gifts if they managed to achieve the same. She denied what was raised over her attempts to promote extremist ideas, saying that she does not embrace any extremist ideas.

She blamed a police officer for the accusations against her, saying that he accused her of extremism, as he is veiled woman and due to her family background. She clarified that her husband travelled to Syria to join ISIS extremist group, saying that he has been arrested by the Tunisian authorities immediately after his return to the Tunisian territories.

She stressed that her brother also travelled to Libya after the revolution and was killed there, adding that she was suspended from work.

It should be noted that the recent period has seen a crackdown on a number of teachers, suspected of embracing extremist ideas, and closed 79 kindergartens Koranic. Nabilha Kamoun al-Talili, president of the National Chamber of Kindergarten, said some kindergartens are teaching children the torment of the grave, jihad and fighting.

She explained, in remarks to "Arabs today" that the children were intimidated by some extremists who tried to wash their brains to pave the way for training them on the principles of ISIS. She added that a case was also filed by a number of families against a number of suspected teachers that they teach their children jihad, and other things not included in the program of the Ministry of Education.

Some accuse the "Troika" government, led by al-Nahda leader Ali al-Arayed, in 2012, who said that he was stamping the Ministry of Education with a number of teachers enjoying general amnesty, who were expelled from education because of their suspicious attitudes and their tendency to Extremism.
