The Fisrt Vice-President of the Republic and National Prime Minister Gen. Bakri Hassan Salih was informed on outcome of visit of the Minister of Transport, Road and Bridges to China that resulted in a shipment of Gezira train to the country.

This came while the First Vice-President was receiving Minister of Transport, Engineer Makkawi Mohamed Awad at the Council of Ministers, Monday .

Engineer Makkawi said in press statements that the train would be operative as of next October by travelling three times a day between Khartoum and Medani, capital of Gezira State with four main stations , Al-Maseed, Kamleen, Hasahesa and Medani .

He added the meeting reviewed efforts of Sudan Airways Company to transport Sudanese pilgrims, underlining that the Company is planning to transport 8,000 pilgrims this year.
