Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs, Ayman Safadi, on Wednesday met with Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi and discussed ways to strengthen Jordanian-Indonesian relations and regional and international issues of common concern.
According to the Jordan News Agency, the two ministers affirmed that both countries are keen to upgrade economic relations and open new horizons of cooperation, especially in the fields of trade and investment, and referred to joint governmental meetings the two countries will convene in Amman early next year.
They also discussed efforts to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict on the basis of the two-state solution that guarantees the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state on pre-June 4th, 1967, lines with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Both ministers stressed that Jerusalem is a central issue for the Arab and Muslim worlds, voicing rejection of all unilateral Israeli steps aimed at changing the historical and legal situation in the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The meeting tackled efforts to stop the crimes committed against the Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar, stressing the need for continued cooperation within the framework of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and the international community to provide them with the necessary protection.
The two ministers also discussed the war on terrorism, which they said, is a global threat that does not belong to a religion or a civilisation.
