Egyptian actress Safia Al Emari
Cairo - Mohamed Ammar

Egyptian actress Safia Al Emari expressed her pleasure for receiving honoring in Alexandria Cinema Festival, saying that the festival administration informed her that she would honored during the festival, while the death of her brother prevented her from responding to them. She added that the festival administration contacted with her again, adding that she is currently preoccupied in writing her memoirs.
She added, in a statement to “Arabs Today”, that each actor feels happy when he receives honoring in his country, expressing her appreciation to the administration of the festival for honoring her. She added that she received a large number of offers to participate in drama and cinema works, while she refused all of them as they were not suitable for her historic career.
She blamed a large number of production companies whether in Egypt or any other Arab country for not taking into account the history of the actor with whom they aspire to sign contracts. She criticized Part six of “Helmia Nights” presented during the latest drama season of Ramadan, saying that it was not as strong as the previous parties that were reflecting a national epic.
She expressed aspiration to work again with Egyptian superstar Salah Al Saadany, saying that she is keen to contact with him. She also appreciated the works in which she participated with Egyptian superstar Yahia Al Fakharani, saying that she views these works as unforgettable works in her career since its beginning.
She added that she is deeply saddened by the loss of her sister who passed away a few weeks ago and thanks all her friends who supported her during these hard times. In an interview with Arab Today, Emary said she said she is “very selective” in her work and that the size of the role she stars does not bother her that much.
Emary feels optimistic confident that Egyptian cinema will overcome its problems and prosper in the upcoming period, because, she says, it has the history and experience required. Emary stated that the current lack of production resources and the decrease of profit are normal. However, he has faith that once life gets back to normal that Egyptian cinema will flourish.
Emary is an Egyptian actress. She was assigned as ambassador of Goodwill with the United Nations in 2007 until her resignation in 2006 as a protest on 2006 Lebanon War. She began her career as a journalist, after graduating from the Faculty of Commerce. She studied Russian language and worked as an interpreter at international conferences.
She was discovered by the artist Jalal Issa. They got married and have two sons. Emary has starred in more than 70 movies and has been honored at Egyptian and international festivals with prestigious awards for most of her roles. She has also been the head – or member – of several jury committees for local and international festivals.
