The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) has denied reports transmitted by the Qatari media outlets regarding a meeting held between High Commissioner for Human Rights Prince Zaid bin Ra’ad Al-Hussein and Qatari Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva Ali Khalfan Al-Mansouri, stressing that these reports are fake and inaccurate.
In a press statement to reporters in Geneva, OHCHR spokesperson Rupert Colville, said that the reports circulating in the Qatari media had seriously and deliberately distorted the statements of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein.
He said: "Usually, OHCHR does not comment on bilateral meetings with States, except in rare cases where the OHCHR notices that the concerned State seriously and significantly distorts the content of the meeting, as what happened in the case of the Qatari meeting with the OHCHR."
