The Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani, held a meeting with the Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Zurab Pololikashvili, to discuss ways of enhancing corporation between Bahrain Tourism and Exhibition Authority (BTEA) and the organization.

The meeting was attended by BTEA Chief Executive Shaikh Khaled bin Humood Al Khalifa.

During the meeting, Mr. Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani expressed his sincere congratulations to the new Secretary General on his appointment. In addition, they discussed ways of enhancing cooperation in order to strengthen the Kingdom’s position on the world tourism map on regional and global levels. This comes in line with the BTEA’s long term strategy aimed at developing and strengthening the tourism sector, which contributes towards the 2030 Economic Vision.

The Kingdom of Bahrain, represented by the BTEA, was selected as member of the United Nations World Tourism Organization’s (UNWTO) Executive Council for the period 2018-2021. This selection comes as a result of the BTEA’s efforts towards developing the tourism sector on a local level, as well as the Kingdom’s capability to represent theMiddle East region in terms of tourism developments.
