Egypt will take part in the third international conference for promoting cultural tourism in Shanghai next Thursday.
Governmental officials, academicians and representatives for key travel agencies from Asian and European states will take part in the two-day event.
In statements to MENA on Thursday, Egyptian Consul General in Shanghai Khaled Youssef said the consulate will take part in the event, noting that Alexandria Governor Mohamed Sultan will attend the conference in view of the twinship agreement between Shanghai and Alexandria.
The conference represents an important international platform for promoting tourism worldwide, he said, noting that the consulate will review during the conference key archaeological sites and facilities offered to tourists to encourage tourism in Egypt.
He noted that the number of Chinese tourists visiting Egypt is expected to reach 200,000 tourists in 2017 against 190,000 tourists in 2016.
He noted that there are 15 direct regular and charter flights per week that transfer tourists from China to Cairo, Luxor and Hurghada.
He underlined Egypt's keenness on luring Chinese tourists to visit the country, highlighting the visa facilities offered.
