“This is Bahrain” society will organise tomorrow Wednesday (September 13, 2017), in Los Angeles, an exhibition and a press conference to officially launch ‘The Kingdom of Bahrain Declaration’ and The King Hamad Global Centre for Inter-Faith Dialogue and Peaceful Co-Existence.

"Kingdom of Bahrain Declaration", King Hamad Global Centre for Inter-Faith Dialogue and Peaceful Co-Existence to be launched tomorrow

The mega event will be held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and will be inaugurated on behalf of HM the King by Representative of HM the King for Charity Work and Youth Affairs and Board of Trustees Chairman of the Royal Charity Organisation Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, in the presence of representatives from the White House and the United Nations, religious leaders and senior guests.

Before launching the declaration, Shaikh Nasser will meet a number of American students at the Museum of Tolerance at an invitation by Dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Centre Rabbi Marvin Hier. Discussions will explore the youth’s common aspirations to achieve intellectual rapprochement and contribute to working out innovative visions to lay bridges of peace and tolerance. Then, Shaikh Nasser will tour the museum’s sections and get informed about the international documents it has on religious tolerance.

The inauguration ceremony of the Kingdom of Bahrain Declaration’ and the King Hamad Global Centre for Inter-Faith Dialogue and Peaceful Co-Existence will be presented by American television personality Mary Hart. The celebration will also include speeches by Shaikh Nasser, Rabbi Marvin Hier, Rev. Johnnie Moore, Bahraini Ambassador to Kuwait Shaikh Khalifa bin Hamad Al Khalifa and Secretary General of the Bahrain Federation of Expatriate Associations (BFEA) Betsy Mathieson.

The BFEA Secretary General hailed the function, pointing out that the centre will further boost Bahrain’s standing as a hub for religious peace and co-existence. She added that the centre aims to promote inter-religious and cultural dialogue to end conflicts and achieve reconciliation and peace. She also noted that the centre also aims to counter misusing religious rostrums to justify violence and incite hatred between the communities.

It is worthy to note that the King Hamad Global Centre for Inter-Faith Dialogue and Peaceful Co-Existence will be set up on a land plot donated by HM the King and will comprise an exhibition showcasing historical and modern models on religious freedom and peaceful co-existence in Bahrain.

“The Kingdom of Bahrain Declaration” and The King Hamad Global Centre for Inter-Faith Dialogue and Peaceful Co-Existence complement the launch of the King Hamad Chair in Inter-Faith Dialogue and Peaceful Co-Existence at Sapienza University in November last year.
