Ankara - ArabToday

A total of 49 tourists were wounded including 15 Chinese in the hot air balloon accident in Cappadocia of central Turkey early Tuesday.

According to officials of Chinese Embassy in Ankara, among the injured Chinese tourists, nine experienced fractures.

Three balloons, mostly carrying foreign tourists, made an emergency landing due to strong winds during descending in Goreme district, state-run Anadolu Agency said, adding the heavy landing caused 49 tourists injured.

Turkish officials of the Cultural and Tourism Ministry were dispatched to the local hospitals, and an investigation has been launched.

Last month, one Danish tourist died after falling off the balloon in Cappadocia.

About 2.5 million tourists visit the Cappadocia region each year, with some of the visitors opting to take balloon flights over the stunning landscape during their trip.
