President Mahmoud Abbas has met Britain's foreign minister Boris Johnson in Ramallah and discussed latest developments in the Palestinian territories.
Abbas reaffirmed the Palestinian side’s commitment to the peace process based on the two-state solution, the international legitimacy resolutions, and the Arab peace initiative (the Saudi plan), in order to establish an independent Palestinian state within pre-1967 borders and with East Jerusalem as its capital, according to Palestine Info and News Agency (WAFA).
Abbas reiterated the illegality of Israeli settlement construction, maintaining that Israel should halt its settlement policy, assassinations, incursions and arrests carried against the Palestinian people in order to give peace a chance.
Meanwhile, Britain's foreign minister reiterated his country’s full support for the two-state solution in order to end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, affirming the illegality of Israel’s settlement policy.
They further discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to promote them, WAFA reported.
