Egyptian Ambassador in Khartoum Ambassador Ossama Shaltout asserted that the three-way higher committee meeting of Sudan, Ethiopia and Egypt focused on pushing forward sisterly relations among the three countries.
The summit, which gathered Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi with his Sudanese counterpart Omar el Bashir and Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn, was held on the fringe of Africa Business Summit 2016, currently in session in Sharm El Sheikh.
In statements to MENA, Ambassador Shaltout said the summit asserted that the three countries' interests are not restricted to water issues, but they should extend to include economic and social domains.
The joint statement released by the three-way summit assigned the foreign ministers of the three countries to assess establishing a joint entity for cooperation among them to work on promoting relations in all domains. A proposal in this regard will be referred to the leaders of the three countries in the coming meeting of the joint higher committee, the ambassador said.
Shaltout also explained that the summit approved establishing a joint fund to implement development projects in the three countries as well as forming political, economic, social and cultural committees to oversee cooperation horizons among the three states.
The three leaders also renewed their commitment to work for adopting solutions that achieve joint interests of the three peoples, he added.
The summit also approved encouraging parliamentary meetings and exchange of visits in order to deepen joint understanding at the popular level, along with organizing cultural events, the ambassador said.
The three leaders also agreed on holding annual consultations and reviewing the outcomes of their meetings after six months
