The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, participated in a meeting held today under the chairmanship of President Donald Trump of the United States of America and attended by United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres on the reform of the United Nations at the UN headquarters in New York.
The Minister praised the efforts made by President Donald Trump for the reform of the United Nations, which has become an important objective and urgent demand in light of the changes and developments in the world that necessitate significant positive changes to the management of the United Nations and the development of all its organs to be more efficient and effective in the performance in the role it plays in maintaining international peace and security.
Shaikh Khalid stressed the importance of the role of the United Nations in the humanitarian and development aspects and the need to continue this role in light of the great potential and capabilities that can contribute to the fulfillment of the peoples' aspirations for prosperity.
The Kingdom of Bahrain was one of the first countries to welcome and sign the political declaration called for by the American President to support the Secretary-General's plan to reform the United Nations.
