President Francois Hollande said on Tuesday (Dec 20) France was under a "high level of threat" from a terror attack following the carnage at a Berlin Christmas market.
Hollande said although France faced an elevated threat, it also already had a large-scale "security operation" in place following a string of terror attacks in the country over the past two years.
Twelve people died and dozens were wounded when a truck slammed into the Berlin Christmas market on Monday. The deadly incident occurred near the historic Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church in the Breitscheidplatz, a major public plaza.
German police have said the incident was a "suspected act of terrorism
