H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance and Chairman of Dubai Municipality, has approved the construction of three new civil defence centres in Dubai at a total budget of AED45 m.
The new civil defence stations, located at Nad Al Sheba, Al Mazhar and Jebel Ali areas, come within the Government of Dubai's efforts to protect and secure key infrastructure and critical services facilities as well as other properties and human lives in case of risks.
Hussein Nasser Lootah, Director-General of Dubai Municipality, said the civic body is committed to implementing government projects on par with international best standards to deliver essential services consistent with Dubai Vision 2021, which seeks to establish Dubai as a world reference for developing smart, sustainable cities.
''These three projects fall within the framework of the joint partnership between the municipality and the General Directorate of Civil Defence,'' he added.
Lootah indicated that over the past five years construction of 23 government buildings had been undertaken at a total cost of AED1.6 bn.
