Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.
Istanbul - Arab Today

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi will attend the extraordinary Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Summit on Al-Quds Al-Sharif being held here on December 13.
The conference will be preceded by the Council of Foreign Ministers Meeting which will be attended
by Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, the foreign office said.
The extraordinary summit has been called by the President of Turkey in his capacity as the Chair of the
OIC summit. Most OIC members are expected to attend.
The summit will discuss the recent decision by the US Administration to shift the US Embassy from
Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. The OIC leaders will also explore ways to deal with the situation.
Prime Minister Abbasi will convey the sentiments of the people and Government of Pakistan of the
unequivocal support to the people of Palestine. He will stress upon the OIC for a united stance on the issue of Al-Quds Al-Sharif and call upon the US Administration to review its decision.
Muslims across the world have observed Friday as a day of protest against the United
States’ decision to recognise Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, defying the UN resolutions against
the move and stepping back from the two-state solution of the conflict.
Marches were staged in Pakistan, AJK, Iran, Indonesia, Malaysia, Afghanistan, India-held Kashmir,
Jordan, Tunisia, Somalia, Yemen, and Indonesia. Protest demonstrations were also held in Japan and other parts of the world.
Trump’s decision puts him at odds with the international community, which insists the issue can only
be resolved through negotiations. Trump’s dramatic policy shift, announced on Wednesday, has triggered widespread international condemnation, including from US allies. Several European leaders have warned the US shift Trump’s announcement declaring US support could further destabilise the region. Trump recognised late Wednesday the disputed city as Israel’s capital.
