Qatar participated Thursday in a workshop on terrorism and protecting human rights. The event took place at the Arab League Council's headquarters.
Qatar's delegation included assistant director of the human rights department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Youssef Jassim Al-Thani and assistant director of the international cooperation department at the Ministry of Interior Brigadier Nasser Youssef Al Mal, who is also a member of the country's national committee for combating terrorism.
The holding of the workshop reflects the importance of avoiding the over-reliance on security measures when facing terrorism. The expansion and growth of terrorist organizations and their operations require also a greater focus on human rights and the respect of public freedoms, the participants said.
