The Indonesian National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) suggested that all ASEAN member countries establish the similar institution in the respective country of the grouping, an official said.
"Currently only four out of 10 ASEAN countries which have already formed national commission on human rights namely Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippine and Thailand," Komnas HAM`s Vice Chairman for External Affairs Nur Kholis said here on Sunday.
He said the presence of national commission for protection on human rights in a country was important to observe if there is any violation against human rights committed by certain parties.
"We hoped the commission on human rights could be established in Vietnam and Cambodia in the near future," Nur Kholis said.
