Dubai - Arab Today

The Customers’ Council of the Roads and Transport Authority, RTA, has met with scores of distinctive number plates dealers in its 68th meeting held here to discuss an array of ideas, suggestions and other relevant issues.

The meeting was attended by Mohammed Obaid Al Mulla, RTA Board Member and Chairperson of Customers’ Council; Sultan Abdullah Al Marzouqi, Director of Vehicle Licensing at the Licensing Agency, and Ahmed Hassan Mahboub, Director of Customer Service and Vice Chairperson of the Customers’ Council, as well as managers and staff members of the RTA.

Al Mulla listened to a number of ideas on widening, upgrading and promoting the distinctive numbers plate services, stressing that the RTA has always attached great importance to all suggestions received from the public, implements viable solutions and honours the best and most constructive ideas.

"The RTA is keen to communicate effectively with those proponents, and follow-up the implementation of the service packages on offer to mass transit users, customers and service beneficiaries. It is also keen to identify needs and aspirations of all customers as well as distinctive number plate dealers in Dubai," he noted.

The council urged the public to leverage the extensive range of RTA’s smart public services using their computers and smartphones, as these services are speedy, transparent and readily accessible.

The council came out with scores of feasible recommendations such as tasking the Vehicles Licensing Department, Vehicle Number Plates Section, to study the suggestion of expanding the distinctive number plates service to all types of trucks, buses and other vehicles currently excluded from distinctive number plate auctions and offering them for sale to dealers, customers, business owners and stakeholders.

The council also recommended that the Vehicles Licensing Department should dedicate distinctive number plates to dealers, and consider how to offer these packages to individuals and customers via online auctions.

The initiative would promote this particular commercial sector and create more benefits for distinctive number plates dealers, besides ensuring that the commercial activity is not adversely affected when these packages are offered at public auctions.

It further recommended co-ordinating with the Vehicle Licensing Section, Vehicle Number Plates, to dedicate a tablet PC for inquires about vehicle number plates at Customer Happiness Centers as well as RTA’s head office so that number plate enthusiasts can select the number plates of their choice and get them at the earliest.
