Mohamed Mhidia, Governor of Rabat-Sale-Kenitra, affirmed that the UAE has contributed significantly to improving the economy of the Kingdom of Morocco, by investing in many local sectors, such as industry, agriculture and services.

He made this statement while meeting a delegation from the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, ADCCI, which is currently touring Morocco to promote economic and commercial cooperation between the two countries.

Mhidia welcomed the delegation while highlighting the strong historical ties between the UAE and Morocco. The UAE is a beacon of moderation and tolerance in the Arab and Islamic world, he continued, while praising the country's stances to support Morocco.

He added that both countries aim to enhance their bilateral ties on an institutional level, by forming a joint Emirati-Moroccan Commission to promote overall cooperation, especially regarding their economies.

Mhidia noted that in 2001, both countries witnessed a historical development in their economic and commercial ties, through the signing of a free trade agreement and several bilateral agreements, most notably on economic cooperation.

Ibrahim Al Mahmoud, First Deputy Chairman of ADCCI, explained that the delegation’s visit will be beneficial for both countries, through the discovery of new commercial opportunities for people in business from both Abu Dhabi and Morocco.

He added that despite the good commercial and economic ties between the two countries, there is a need for further development of these relations.

The Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry delegation also held a meeting with the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services in Rabat, as well as bilateral meetings with local Moroccan businesspeople, where its members were briefed about the key investment sectors in Morocco, including car manufacturing, training, tourism and the major future projects of the Regional Centre for Investments.
