Unicef condemned on Thursday the incidents of violence against children in Bangladesh which happened recently in different parts of the country. "This is a serious violation of child rights and Unicef expresses its grave concern over such issues which have shaken the entire country,"said Edouard Beigbender, a Unicef representative in Bangladesh, was quoted as saying in a press release issued Thursday.
The comments came after at least three teenagers died in different parts of the country recently after being subjected to torture. "Unicef strongly believes that the government of Bangladesh will do everything within its power to bring perpetrators to justice and help to end such violence against children," Beigbender said.
The Unicef representative also lauded media's efforts in bringing such incidents to light. "Unicef Bangladesh takes this opportunity to highlight the responsible role played by the country's media in reporting such crimes against children."
