ADM continues comprehensive greenery campaign
Abu Dhabi - Arab Today

The Abu Dhabi City Municipality, ADM, is currently carrying out an extensive campaign to preserve various types of trees, shrubs and green areas in Abu Dhabi City.

The campaign, is held in cooperation with its strategic partners including the General Directorate of Abu Dhabi Police - Traffic Police, and Abu Dhabi Sewerage Services Company. They also involve the supervisors assigned by consultants to oversee and follow up contractors' obligations as per the contracts made.

This campaign reflects the commitment of the Department of Urban Planning and Municipalities to materialise our leadership’s directives to continue the greenery and landscaping initiative by conserving and maintaining date-trees and other species of plants and green spaces in Abu Dhabi. It is intended to preserve the aesthetic and unique outlook of Abu Dhabi in keeping with the prestigious standing enjoyed by the capital. The campaign also aims to continuously upgrade public amenities, recreational facilities, parks and streets.

The campaign aims to improve and restore the current landscaped assets within Abu Dhabi Island to fit with Abu Dhabi’s appearance as a green haven. The campaign’s geographical scope included the landscaped areas within Abu Dhabi Island spanning an area of 408,000 square meters of green spaces and land covering plants. Maintenance works will continue until all targeted areas are complete.

The number of trees targeted by the campaign is around 702, in addition to 819 palm trees and 33,000 shrubs. Urgent maintenance works of trees of various species have been completed including palm trees and shrubs. Works continue around the clock until the plants maintenance plan is complete.
