Manama - Arab Today

General Director of Traffic, Colonel Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Abduwahab Al Khalifa asserted on Thursday that as part of the directives of Interior Minister, Lt-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, a comprehensive traffic plan for the Bahrain Grand Prix (Formula 1) will be organised from April 14 to 16. He said a team will cover the event’s related traffic activities. He said that an office will be allocated at the race site, while a team will be deployed at the King Fahad Causeway to ensure smooth traffic flow.
The traffic plan covers all roads leading to Bahrain International Circuit and nearby roads. To reach the parking lots of Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), head towards Al Muaskar Road and then take Shaikh Salman Highway and Zallaq Road towards Awali. On reaching the traffic signal at the entrance of Sakhir, go towards National Charter Monument and after that the junction of Rashid Equestrian Club and pass through Zallaq Road to reach the Zallaq flyover.
Those driving under the Zallaq flyover will meet the traffic coming via the flyover from Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Highway heading towards the traffic signal of the University of Bahrain gate. They will also meet those coming from Roundabout 22. They should turn left towards Bahrain Bay Road with those coming from Zallaq Road and those heading right to the Bahrain Bay Road.
All drivers go to the left towards the second traffic signal of Bahrain Bay Road to reach the BIC parking lots 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 12, 13 and then to the second entrance to reach parking lots 6, 7, 9, 15, 16 and 10. Permits have been issued to enter each parking lot that authorise the holder to enter the BIC parking area.
There is an office at parking lot 10 to deal with minor traffic accidents. For those with special needs parking is available in parking lot 9, near the main gate.
He said that the department wants people to follow traffic rules and cooperate with the police and traffic personnel deployed near junctions and the BIC..
