Dubai - Arab Today

Dubai Municipality is showcasing at GITEX 2017 nine of its latest apps, smart systems and modern technologies to serve customers in various fields.

The participation of the civic body in the exhibition highlighted the progress achieved by the Smart Government in Dubai, as the exhibition represents an opportunity to learn about the latest in the field of information technology.

The participation of Dubai Municipality in the exhibition aims to contribute to spreading the culture of e-transformation and introducing the Municipality services available on its portal.

Among the displays at GITEX is the "Kharetati" app, which helps the customers - property developers, consultants, owners and various parties - to get a comprehensive map of lands in Dubai within five minutes that can be printed without visiting the Municipality.

Dubai Municipality is also showcasing a smart system under the name "Montaji," for registering, managing and monitoring consumer products in the emirate. It serves as a comprehensive database that can be consulted to ensure whether it complies with the approved specifications and to identify the risk factor of the product through the intelligent risk calculation engine in the system.

The system is designed to cover the needs of traders and the Municipality as a control and legislation body in the first phase of the system. During the second phase it will serve a larger segment of consumers.

Dubai Municipality has launched an aerial survey service using drones or an unmanned aerial vehicle, UAV. The service is provided to government and private agencies. The new plots are photographed and high quality maps are drawn for use by companies and developers in their projects. The service reduces the time required for mapping, instead of six months to a few days, that too with high accuracy, and up to 24 kilometers at a time, so that maps can be drawn of all kinds, accurately and at high speed.

The Municipality's Survey Department is displaying its smart app, Buildings in Dubai during the earthquakes, which is being applied for the first time in the Gulf region on smart phones to support emergency and evacuation plans in the event of significant earthquakes. Although there are no effective sources of seismic risk in the UAE, strong earthquakes from southern Iran and Pakistan sometimes cause some fear and confusion for residents of Dubai, especially those living in the upper floors of the towers.

Other apps on display include Barkatina, Dubai Intelligent Environmental Monitoring System, Green Factory App and Al Mawashi.
