Cairo - Arab Today

Head of Egypt’s General Intelligence Service Khaled Fawzy on Wednesday met with a delegation of Palestine’s Islamic Jihad movement, currently on a visit to Cairo.

During the meeting, the latest developments in Palestine as well as the movement’s efforts to support the unity of Palestinian factions were discussed.

Fawzy stressed Egypt’s keenness on the Palestinian unity and supporting all efforts that promote the unity of all Palestinian factions.

Egypt gives top priority to the Palestinian cause as well as to assisting the Palestinian people, the Egyptian official said.

Egypt is ready to host and sponsor a Palestinian national dialogue among the different factions to agree on a national program to cope with all the challenges, he added.

Members of the delegation, for their part, briefed Fawzy on the suffering of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and Israeli violations against Palestinians.

The Palestinian officials hailed Egypt’s role and efforts in support of the Palestinian unity.
