Emirates Red Crescent signs agreement to strengthen electricity network
Al Mukalla - Arab Today

The Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, signed a work agreement with the Public Electricity Corporation in Hadramaut coast today to execute a project to strengthen the supply of electricity in the Al Rayan region.

The agreement proposes to extend the network or electricity cables in the Al Rayan region, east of Al Mukalla city, the governorate’s capital, where around 400 families live.

The authority also funded a project to strengthen the electricity line of the Al Rayan region mosque and provide it with air conditioners to ease the intense heat for worshippers during Al Mukalla’s summer.

The head of the ERC team in Hadramaut after signing the work agreement stressed that the authority would continue its humanitarian and charity works during the Holy Month of Ramadan, and would intensify its efforts to ease the suffering of the local citizens, who were suffering during the Yemeni crisis.

He emphasised that the signing of this contract was part of a series of humanitarian and rescue projects adopted by the UAE, through the Emirates Red Crescent Authority in Hadramaut, to ease the effect of the crisis on the citizens.

Engineer Mani’ bin Yameen, Director-General of the Public Electricity Corporation in the Hadramaut coast, thanked the UAE and its humanitarian representative in Hadramaut, the Emirates Red Crescent, for the efforts made to ease the suffering, and the qualitative support extended by the ERC in matters related to the lives of citizens and their rescue, infrastructure projects, and humanitarian and developmental initiatives.

The ERC will continue its efforts to provide humanitarian aid to the citizens in Hadramaut during Ramadan through several projects, the latest of which is distributing ready iftar meals on the main streets in the cities and provinces of the coast and valley of Hadramaut Governorate.

The ERC will continue its support to the Yemeni health sector with equipment and other necessities to operate hospitals and health facilities.

The authority provided the Al Mocha Hospital in Taiz Province with a shipment of fuel containing 9,000 litres of diesel to operate the hospital for the next three months.

This shipment will contribute in empowering the hospital to operate its facilities and services in a way so as to meet the immediate treatment needs of the residents.
