The branch of the Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, in Ajman has concluded the activities of the 'Doctors of Giving in the Year of Giving' initiative, in cooperation with the Ajman Specialty Hospital.
The activities were held between 17th and 22nd October, with the aim of offering health care services to the underprivileged and residents of the emirate.
Saif Ibrahim Al Nuaimi, Director of the ERC Branch in Ajman, said that the initiative is in line with the ERC's framework to deliver healthcare services to underprivileged patients in their homes. A medical team and a technical team were formed from leading UAE doctors and technicians and were supplied with the necessary equipment and tools, to examine cases of illness registered at the ERC and dispense the appropriate medication for each example, which limited the worsening of their health condition. The medical team, supported by the technical team, also conducted free medical examinations in public areas and offered the necessary medical advice.
The initiative’s services witnessed considerable demand from the public, who praised the ERC’s social actions and valued the efforts of the doctors, who offered them care and raised their awareness regarding health.
The public demanded that such initiatives are continuously organised, highlighting the solidarity between the various sectors of the local community.
It also included many activities, the most important of which are house visits, where the medical team conducted examinations and educated patients about health according to each case while offering moral support and distributing first aid boxes and medical equipment.
The initiative also included visits to two schools, Avalon Private School and Al Hanan Kindergarten, where the medical and technical teams educated students about health, introduced them to a healthy diet, and organised entertainment activities.
There was also an activity at the Science Garden in Al Jurf, Ajman, where a walk was organised from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
The activities on the last day of the initiative took place at the Ajman Cultural Sporting Club, where the medical and technical teams educated the club’s members on health awareness.
