The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has rejected threats by some Iranian officials against the GCC and other countries in the region.
Threats by the Iranian officials contravene with the principles of good neighbourliness and non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries, as stated by the UN Charter, GCC Secretary General Abdullatif Al Zayani said in a statement.
Iran continues to interfere in affairs of the GCC and regional countries, including Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar and Yemen, Al Zayani said, Kuwait News Agency reported.
The Iranian actions "show Iran’s hostility and its persistence on meddling in the domestic affairs of countries of the region and on provoking international forces in order to undermine the security and stability of the region.”
Al Zayani called on Iran to reconsider its "negative policy" against other countries and urged the international community to prevent Tehran from undermining peace and security in the region.
The GCC comprises Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Oman
