Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al Abadi ordered a 24-hour suspension to military operations in disputed areas in the northern Iraqi region of Kurdistan, AlSumaria TV reported Friday.
In a statement on Friday, Abadi's office said that the decision is meant to allow the immediate deployment of Iraqi federal forces in disputed areas and at the Fishkhabur border crossing and international borders.
Earlier in the day, Iraqi forces and Kurdish Peshmerga fighters reached an agreement on Friday to stop fighting in northern Iraq, the media office of the US-led anti-Daesh coalition said.
