Gulf Pharmaceutical Industries, Julphar, has announced its donation of AED1 million as an endowment fund to support dental postgraduate education at the Mohammed bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences, MBRU.
The move is in line with the decision of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan declaring 2017 as the '#Year of Giving’, and is part of its participation in the Global Endowment Vision adopted by the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
In recognition of Julphar’s contribution to the community, the company will receive the Dubai Endowment Sign from the Mohammed bin Rashid Global Centre for Endowment Consultancy, one of the key initiatives under the Mohammed bin Rashid Global Initiatives. This sign gives the private sector procurement privileges with Government of Dubai entities as per the directives of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.
Speaking on the occasion, Saud Ali Musabeh Al Nuaimi, the Business Affairs Senior Director of Julphar, said, "We hope that the endowment from Julphar will contribute to supporting dental specialisation in UAE to ensure that our children have a better and lasting future. We call on all private sector companies to take the same step to have such an effective role in our society."
Professor Athanasios Athanasiou, Dean of the Hamdan bin Mohammed College of Dental Medicine at MBRU, said, "Innovative endowment initiatives provide outstanding services to the university, and guarantee and effectively contribute to the development of research in the field of dentistry in the UAE. It also provides the university with additional sources of income to ensure the development of our skills and teaching methods."
He added, "We highly appreciate the endowment support by Julphar, which will be allocated for dental postgraduate education at the university. Moreover, we are looking forward to a more fruitful cooperation with such leading entities, which in turn will contribute to the enhancement of healthcare, the development of dental capabilities and building dental cadres within the health sector in the UAE."
